#### Why we’re doing this
- Charlie said, “I want to get my ears pierced because it’s new and it makes me look more fancier.”
- That’s a great reason — and we’re excited for her! But this is also a chance to show she’s ready for responsibility. If it goes well, she’ll keep them. If not, we’ll wait and try again when she’s older.
#### The Healing Process (6–8 weeks)
- 'Showers only' — no baths or swimming
- 'Clean hands first', every time before touching ears
- 'Clean ears twice a day' — morning and night
- Use a 'checklist' to track cleaning
- 'Gently twist the earrings' each time
- 'No playing with them' during the day
#### If It’s Not Done Right
- If Charlie 'forgets to clean her ears 2 days in a row', we’ll take the earrings out
- Her ears will 'close up
- We won’t try again until 'after her 10th birthday
#### This Is Charlie’s Job
Charlie is in charge of her ear care.
Mom and Dad will not remind her.
If she forgets, that just means she wasn’t ready yet — and that’s totally okay.
#### The Piercing Experience
- It feels like a quick pinch — over in a second
- Ears might feel sore for 1–3 days after
- Charlie can hold someone’s hand and take deep breaths
- will take a lollipop
- No numbing is usually used — it’s very fast
- appt in mid april cost $100, Charlie will pay $20
